SYBILLE KUNTZ Mosel-Riesling 2013

After a cool spring and a belated bloom we had a wonderful sunny summer and the grapes have developed nicely so far. We expect Riesling harvest not before the middle of Oktober. It will be the first vintage with the BIO seal after the completed three year transition period to become organic.

Distribution:

The new SYBILLE KUNTZ Mosel-Rieslings are now since July 2013 available in Holland at Wijnkoperij Okhuysen in Haarlem. Since August our Rieslings are also in the three additional European countries Malta, Denmark, Poland.

„…we buy Sybille’s wines every year because we believe they make the best dry wine in the Mosel. They are mavericks who have gone their own way, developing their own techniques, using old vines (sometimes very old) and low yields to produce dry wines that have real density and concentration. These wines are special and whenever we show them at special dinners or tastings they always attract attention. ”

Sybille Kuntz, Riesling Kabinett trocken 2012 Mosel: Very stony with just a light citrus note. Full of energy, very crisp and finely balanced. Deliciously invigorating. Very young but already a pleasure. 12.5%. Drink 2014-2019. 17 Points

Sybille Kuntz, Riesling Spätlese trocken 2012 Mosel: Like the Kabinett, intensely stony on the nose. Wild grasses. Utterly zesty and fresh but with greater depth and power than the Kabinett and pure citrus zest on the long finish. Fabulous wine. I went back to this one at the end of the tasting just to be sure it wasn’t initial over-enthusiasm and it was just as impressive. GV. 13,0%. Drink 2015-2022. 18 Points

“WS Tasting Note: Lively and powerful, featuring an essence of slate and sea salt that is fringed by touches of anise. Notes of wild berry and red currant show in mix, finishing a touch off-dry, with accents of chamomile and candied ginger. Drink now through 2025. 500 cases made.” –KM
