Vinexpo to partner with leading wine media brand Decanter

to present award-winning wines

Vinexpo is delighted to announce that Decanter, the world’s leading wine media brand, will be unveiling the winners of the Decanter World Wine Awards at Vinexpo Bordeaux for the first time on Sunday 14 June 2015.

Now in its 12th year, the Decanter World Wine Awards is the world’s largest and most influential wine competition.  The Decanter World Wine Awards is trusted internationally for its rigorous judging process.  The world’s most renowned wine authorities fly in from over 20 countries to be part of the judging panel, which includes over 60 Masters of Wine, over 15 Master Sommeliers and previous winners of the World’s Best Sommelier title.

Vinexpo and Decanter will be holding the “Excellence from Unexpected Places” masterclass on Sunday 14 June 2pm. For the first time ever, Decanter World Wine Awards Chair Steven Spurrier, Guest Vice-Chair Gerard Basset MS MW, together with Regional Chairs Paolo Basso and Markus del Monego MW will gather together to speak about surprising wins at the Decanter World Wine Awards from different regions around the world, and revealing the secret to recognising and awarding quality wines.  This prestigious panel, which includes three previous winners of the World’s Best Sommelier competition (Basset, Basso, and Del Monego) will be hosted by Decanter’s publishing director, Sarah Kemp. Vinexpo visitors will be invited to participate on a first-come, first-serve registration basis.

Guillaume Deglise, CEO of Vinexpo says: “Decanter’s international reach and reputation for getting the best palates together to judge wines from all over the world, makes the “Excellence from Unexpected Places” masterclass a very exciting addition to Vinexpo Bordeaux 2015. We are delighted to have formed such a prestigious partnership with the world’s famous Decanter name.”

Sarah Kemp, publishing director of Decanter says: “Decanter has been a supporter of Vinexpo for over 25 years in Bordeaux, Hong Kong and the inaugural Vinexpo Nippon in Japan. Vinexpo Bordeaux is the ideal place to show our award-winning wines, as it is the place where the world’s press and trade meet.”

In addition to the event on Sunday 14 June, Decanter will present over 50 medal-winning wines from Decanter World Wine Awards on their stand (Hall 1, A 188) for the duration of the exhibition.

The first day of Vinexpo (14 June 2015) will also mark the publication of the Decanter World Wine Awards results on Decanter.com.  The results are highly anticipated by press and the wine trade around the world as they wait to discover which wines the judges have celebrated as being the best in the world’s largest wine competition. Vinexpo attendees will experience the results first-hand on the same day of the release.
