Chianti Classico Ribaldoni 2016 comes from the historical Villa Rosa estate, in the heart of Castellina in Chianti, one of the most prestigious production areas of the Chianti Classico DOCG.

The estate, owned by the Cecchi family since 2015, is located amidst one of Europe’s most outstanding cypress groves and extends for 126 hectares, of which 36 are vineyards and 15 are olive groves, with calcareous-clay soils characterized by heterogeneous profiles that combine “alberese” limestone with marl shale.

The management of Villa Rosa’s wine heritage is based on a production philosophy that is as simple as it is elaborate: the property is dedicated to the exclusive cultivation of Sangiovese grapes with the highest quality possible, reserved for labels of great personality and value.

Among these labels, Ribaldoni deserves a special mention: a Chianti Classico DOCG that bears the name of the vineyardwhere it is from, the youngest of the entire estate, currently undergoing the renewal of its vineyards to ensure constant and gradual planting of the best selected Sangiovese clones.

The vines of Ribaldoni are located at an altitude between 255 and 290m above sea level, with soils of medium clay-lime texture and north-western exposure: these characteristics allow this wine to develop structurecomplexity and at the same time freshness and sapidity. Such features are even more evident in the 2016 vintage, which has registered scarce rain, high temperatures and has been characterized by a marked night-time temperature range, excellent for the development of complex aromas.

The vinification process for Chianti Classico DOCG Ribaldoni has followed a traditional method, with fermentation lasting for 5 days, preceded by two weeks of maceration on the skins, and an aging period of 12 months in tonneaux and at least 6 months in the bottle.

Chianti Classico DOCG Ribaldoni 2016 has a fairly dense ruby red color. Intense fruity notes stand out on the nose, complemented by light and delicate hints of toasted wood and spices. The mouthful is enveloping; the sip is fresh, vibrant and savoury, with soft and velvety tannins. The finish is long and persistent.
