A reflection of the Perse family’s 25 years of passion and pursuit of excellence
The 2022 vintage marks the Perse family’s 25th harvest at Château Pavie
During Primeurs week, which was held between the 24th and 28th April 2023, Gérard and Chantal Perse presented the Château Pavie 2022 vintage in a specially-designed black and gold bottle. This unique bottle was filled not only with an array of aromas but also with a host of memories and emotions for the Perse family, who are celebrating their 25th vintage of Château Pavie.
For this vintage, which shines with a special brightness, the weather proved pleasantly complicit, with a never-ending summer and a dream harvest that allowed the estate to bring in tiny concentrated grapes of very high quality and lovely balance. In the cellar, the juices simply burst with fresh, ripe fruit flavours and promised a great vintage, probably an historic one.
2022 – an anniversary year This vintage also offered a nod to the estate’s ten years of being ranked Premier Grand Cru Classé “A”. It was in 2012 that Château Pavie was awarded this distinction for the first time. Ten years on, the new Saint-Emilion Classification confirmed Château Pavie’s position at the highest rank. This 2022 Classification rewards 15 years of work in the vineyards and cellars and provides a wonderful incentive to continue along the same path of excellence.

“Because wine is also tasted with our eyes, our 25th vintage of Château Pavie will come in a special bottle engraved in black and gold -like a present,” explains Gérard Perse, the owner of Château Pavie.
Over the years, each member of the team has become acutely aware of the uniqueness of this magical terroir and has learned how to draw the best out of it. On the famous south-facing Pavie slope, Cabernet Sauvignon offers delicate fruit flavours and floral notes, while the Saint-Emilion limestone plateau brings depth and a touch of salinity to the wine. The wines of Château Pavie today offer perfect balance; they are elegant, intense and harmonious and are made to age many years in the cellars of wine enthusiasts. “Trust in Mother Nature and her generosity. Let terroir express itself. Over time, we gain experience and serenity. When the blending takes place, something magical occurs. That’s when Château Pavie comes through to reveal itself” says Jean-Baptiste Pion, the Assistant Technical Director.
