Zeer aanbevolen!

TERROIR

Château de Lastours is located at the entrance to the Corbières massif, near the village of Portel-des-Corbières, at an altitude of 300m and 10 km from the Mediterranean Sea. Located in “Corbières Maritimes”, the terroir is made up of a unique subsoil and specific climatic conditions: 300 days of sunshine per year: a guarantee of reaching the maturity necessary for the grapes to create great wines. 300 windy days a year: The Tramontana, blowing from the North-West, is cold and powerful, excellent phytosanitary conditions for cleaning up the vines and grapes. A maritime microclimate: cool and temperate, the Mediterranean Sea winds soften the variations in temperature for the good maturity of the grapes. Soils predominantly clay-limestone: for excellent drainage which brings freshness and minerality to the wines.

A vineyard on the terraces

The vines representing a hundred hectares are spread over a hilly estate of more than 850 hectares, including 10 hectares of olive trees and more than 3,000 trees. From the soils produced on the estate in 2005, the grape varieties have been completely redone as a result, favoring local grape varieties: syrah, carignan, grenache, mourvèdre, cinsault, vermentino and roussanne. The perfect match between grape varieties and soils, combined with rigorous plot selection, results in stylish, expressive wines with a strong personality. The winemakers strive to work with healthy and environmentally friendly practices. In line with this, Château de Lastours have been converting to organic farming since August 2017 (CAB) and the 500,000 bottles per year are AB certified from the 2020 vintage.
