Vinopres, the organiser of Spirits Selection by CMB, announces a major change of management at the helm of this prestigious international liquor competition. After a commitment spanning many years during which he has guided Spirits Selection to unprecedented heights, Thierry Heins is passing on the torch to Ulric Nijs, a seasoned member of the spirits industry.

Ulric is already very familiar with how our organisation works. A judge from 2016 to 2019, he subsequently joined our team to develop the tasting notes side of the event. He boasts over thirty years’ experience in the spirits and cocktail space and aims to continue to help the competition to grow, hence his new management position.

With a firm focus on the future, Spirits Selection by CMB is preparing the next competition which is already shaping up to be momentous. In addition to the high standards which have established its reputation, the next event will be held in China. More specifically, the tastings will take place from 1 to 6 September 2024 in Renhuai, in the Chinese province of Guizhou. This will mark a significant milestone in the history of Spirits Selection by CMB, underscoring the increasing importance of spirits in Asia.

Entries are open
Producers and distillers from across the globe are invited to take part in this unique experience by entering their spirits in the competition. Entries for the next Spirits Selection by CMB are already open. Details on how to take part are available on the competition’s website.

Spirits Selection by CMB thus continues its commitment to recognise and celebrate excellence within the industry, whilst also reaching out towards new horizons under Ulric’s enlightened leadership.
