It has been a dream year, with favourable weather from spring to harvest. Each stage benefited from optimum conditions: homogeneous flowering, followed by the rainfall the vines needed to develop properly prior to the very dry months of June and July. The seeds started to mature very early. Colour change went marvellously well. August offered short bursts of well-timed rain and moderate temperatures, so that the vines were in great shape and the grapes ripened evenly. The warm days and cool nights in September, accompanied by a few showers, finished ripening the tannins.
The grapes were simply magnificent – a rare, sublimely satisfying event.
