This prestigious accolade goes to the Villa Quaranta Wine Hotel & SPA, which will now compete for the Global Award.
Villa Quaranta Wine Hotel & SPA, the Tommasi family’s historic country house on the outskirts of the Valpolicella Classica zone, has won the 2020 Best of Wine Tourism award for the accommodation offering the best hospitality in its area. This prize has been bestowed by the International Competition devoted to excellence in wine tourism around the world.
The award is conferred by the Verona Chamber of Commerce and is part of the joint project of the Great Wine Capitals, the network created between ten cities that represent excellence in wine production worldwide (from Bilbao to Adelaide, and including Bordeaux, the Napa Valley, Chile and Argentina), in which Verona is Italy’s representative.
The competition rewards those establishments that stand out thanks to the quality of their wine tourism-related services within various categories, which range from the cultural, artistic and architectural spheres to that of sustainable practices in the tourist sector, as well as those of accommodation and catering.

Tommasi represents the history of the Valpolicella zone, and several others besides. With six wine-producing domaines in five of Italy’s Regions – Tommasi in the Veneto, Caseo in Lombardy, Casisano at Montalcino and Poggio al Tufo in Tuscany’s Maremma district, Surani in Puglia and Paternoster in Basilicata – the company’s goal is to create great wines and promote the qualities of terroirs that have a vocation for excellence.
